Notes on using the Hard Disk ToolKit‚Ñ¢ 2.0 & 2.0.1 to 2.0.6 Retail Version Update.
This updater will update only retail versions of Hard Disk ToolKit‚Ñ¢ 2 versions 2.0 and 2.0.1. These versions use one of the following serial number series:
1. EB2nnnnnnnn
2. FB2nnnnnnnn
3. NT2nnnnnnnn
4. NF2nnnnnnnn
5. NH2nnnnnnnn
If your copy of Hard Disk ToolKit‚Ñ¢ 2 does not use one of these serial numbers, it is an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) version (the software was packaged with a hard drive or computer system). You must contact your drive or system manufacturer to obtain an OEM updater.
Before Updating
• We recommend that you perform a clean install of Hard Disk ToolKit™ 2 before performing the update. This ensures that you have a good set of applications and extensions to update from.
Easy Update or Custom Update
• Most users should use Easy Update. If you installed Hard Disk ToolKit™ 2 using Easy Install or custom installation which installed the file "Device Data" ("Hard Disk ToolKit™", "FWB SCSI Configure™", or "Device Data"), Easy Update will update the components which are either in the same folder as "Device Data" or in the case of extensions, on your startup volume.
• If the updater is unable to find "Device Data", you will need to use Custom Update. For Extensions, the custom updates will only update files on your startup volume. For FWB Mounter™, the custom update will update copies of the application on the selected volume.

Where have the FWB (Hammer) Logos Gone?
Minor changes have been made to the interface in this version to reflect FWB Software’s new logo and corporate identity. Specifically, all instances of the "crossed hammer" icon have been updated with the new FWB Software, LLC Logo.
New Features and Fixes in 2.0.6
• The FWB Tools Extension no longer loads drivers for devices it shouldn't. In a few cases it was loading for DAT drives, CD-ROM drives, CD-R drives, and scanners.
• PowerBook sleep support for machines with IDE drives has been significantly improved. IDE drives controlled by the FWB driver will now sleep under system control at all times when they should. Proper sleep behavior still depends upon the device support of the IDE power management commands. Not all devices support power management.
• New Device Data and Device Data ATA files provides support for the latest devices.
• Both SCSI and IDE drivers are now more compatible with Retrospect when backing up to removable media. It is now possible to specify target backup disks that are smaller than the total size of the backup because Retrospect is now able to identify the disk as removable.
• The FWB IDE Extension now works better with unformatted disks and disks controlled by other drivers. It also better handles cases where a media bay drive on a PowerBook is inserted after the machine has been started up.
In some cases, if you start up a PowerBook with non-FWB formatted media in the IDE removable drive, you will not be able to properly switch media or replace the drive because the non-FWB driver may not support it. In most cases it is best to start up with either FWB-formatted media in the drive or with no media in the drive.
New Features and Fixes in 2.0.5
• Improved ATA Performance - Performance of ATA devices on most systems has been improved, in a few cases doubled. The ATA driver now fully supports Multi-Word DMA on the Power Macintosh 5360, 5400 Series and 6400 Series Computers.
• More ATA Devices - Support for more ATA devices has been added and the performance of a number of existing devices has been fine tuned.
• More SCSI Devices - Support for even more SCSI devices has been added. Additional "Performance" SCSI Configure templates have been added for popular drives and configurations.
• Improved Fujitsu M2541B "Pismo" Support - The driver should work more reliably with this device when used in the Apple MediaBay on the PowerBook 190 and 5300.
• Fixes Problems with System Installs - Problems with installing Apple System Software from CD-ROM after having installed the FWB drivers using the "Crisis Boot Disk" have been resolved.
• Patch for 5360/54XX/64XX Computers - The "5360/54XX/64XX Updater 1.0" available from Apple installs patches to correct a system hardware problem that occurs when using some SCSI devices, particularly scanners. The Apple updater only works with disks controlled by Apple Drivers, which means you can't update your system if you are using FWB drivers or third party drives. If you install HDT 2.0.6 or later you do not need to run the Apple updater. HDT includes a copy of the Apple patch to correct the problems.
New Features and Fixes in 2.0.1

• Supported added for more SCSI devices, including additional revisions of the Quantum Atlas.
